Someone has said that healthy communities offer opportunities for human interaction on three levels: face-to-face, name-to-name, and heart-to-heart.

Face-to-face interaction takes place in large groups of people, unusually 80 or more, united around a common cause or activity.  In our church, this level of community most often takes place in worship.  On Sunday morning, even if we don't know everyone in the congregation, it is wonderful to be part of the gathered people of God, and to experience the power of corporate worship.  In the process, we greet one another, sing and pray together, and eventually come to recognize one another on a face-to-face basis. 

But a loving, breathing community fo faith is (of course) nore than a Sunday morning experience.  Our participation becomes more meaningful when we come to know others on a name-to-name basis, usually in gatherings of 15-80 individuals. 

We all need God, and we all need family and friends who will love and encourage us.
