Mission Opportunities

OUR CHURCH

Adopt a Mission Cans: Save your change and bills throughout the year to help us fund our missions giving goal.

Prayer Bear and Shawl Ministry: You may donate a stuffed animal or shawl. Please take either to friends having difficulties and pray over the “bear” or shawl for the persons receiving them.  

Serve at TLC Concession Stand for Soccer: You may donate food items and volunteer to help at the stand on soccer Saturday mornings. Pray we will be a    blessing and witness to the soccer families.

Be a Member of the Missions Team: WE NEED YOU! We meet the 3rd Monday of the month as well as lead the mission activities.

CD Ministry: The Lapel Campus Sunday Worship Service is recorded and  copied to CD’s for those who are not able to attend service. These CD’s are delivered to our shut-in’s. Pray for this ministry and that the shut-ins will be blessed.

Christian Center Outreach:  This is a monthly outreach to help those living on the streets of downtown Anderson. Donation of items and cash are needed for this   mission. Items can be place in the totes in the Educational Wing of our downtown campus.

OUR COMMUNITY

Lapel Food Pantry: The food pantry is open for business the every Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 11 am. However, the pantry is closed the fifth Saturday of the month. You may volunteer to serve as well as donate food items or funds to support this ministry. There is a tote for donations in the Education Unit of the Lapel Campus building. Pray for the continuing needs of this ministry.

Lucille Raines Christmas Dinner: Each December we prepare and serve a Christmas dinner for the Lucille Raines Residence in downtown Indianapolis. This is a home for those recovering from addictions. You may donate food, prepare food items and/or help serve the residents. Pray that we will touch the hearts of the residents as they see our love for Jesus and for them.

***Fellowship of Christian Athletes Breakfast: This is held at Lapel High School on the 1st Thursday of each month and every Thursday at Lapel Middle School. You may donate funds or volunteer to help cook and serve. Pray this ministry will touch the hearts of these students to desire to know Jesus.

***Kairos: A ministry that takes place at the Pendleton Juvenile Prison. Typically feeding breakfast to youth offenders and spreading God’s love. Please contact Rick Coleman for more information about this program.

***Currently on hold due to Covid-19, will resume when safe

Lapel Christmas Project: Held by the Rachel Circle, this project provides Christmas gifts and food for under resourced families in Lapel. You may donate funds, support the Circle fundraisers and pray that these families see the love of Jesus through this ministry.

Shoe Project: We were able to collect approximately 150 pairs of new and  gently used shoes this fall to donate to Operation Love in Anderson. Many toes will feel your generosity and warmth as the weather turn cold. Remember to keep saving these shoes for our annual shoe drive next fall.

Local Missions: Trinity UMC financially supports these local missions.

· The Anderson Christian Center which provides shelter and assistance in Anderson

· Youth Serving Christ which serves young students in local schools

· Alternatives, Inc. which provides shelter and other assistance to families of abuse.

· Madison County Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Program is a program that communicates and shares the saving power, hope, and love of Christ to the imprisoned, victims, Sherriff’s Department employees and their families

OUR WORLD

Cru: Missionary, Laurie Johnson, works at Cru Headquarters and with middle schools in the Orlando, Florida area. (Part of our missions budget.)

Red Bird Mission: A United Methodist Mission in Beverly, Kentucky serving the needs of the people in this Appalachia Mountain area. We save box tops for the Red Bird Mission School. (A container is located in the Education Unit at the Lapel Campus) (Part of our missions budget.)

Kafakumba Training Center: Kendra Enright, Nate & Elinda (Enright) Steury and other family members all live and work at the Center. The Enright family has been working in South Central Africa since 1950. Their work includes the annual Pastor’s School Training which has been in existence for over 52 years. The    students come for 4 to 6 weeks every year for a total of 8 years. Upon completion of their training, the students become ordained ministers in the United Methodist Church. The center also provides leadership training and jobs for the local people. The work is being done in agriculture projects teaching them how to grow their own food, and create income, and how to feed and properly care for livestock. They are also involved in fish farming. (Part of our Missions Budget)

Operation Classroom: This is a United Methodist mission in Sierra Leone and Liberia, supporting education. You may support a student allowing them to attend a U.M. school. (Part of our missions budget.

UMCOR: The United Methodist Committee on Relief is the emergency arm of the UM church all around the world. They provide a broad range of programs in disaster areas, immediately and as long as needed. The loose change in the    offering plates each Sunday morning is given to this ministry.
